Hello Word...

This is going to be about the tenth time that I make a stab at blogging on this domain. So what makes this time any different than the past nine "failed" attempts a blogging? Nothing really. I am just going to make a concerted effort to maintain this space. And I have a "plan". There should be four different types of posts that you, the reader, will get from me.

  1. The first is to tell you something about me. This will be a big step for me because I am generally a pretty private person. These posts will either give you a preview of my personality or of my views on something that is going on with current events.
  2. Second will be posts about my health and what I am doing to improve it. More on that later.
  3. Next will be a photo dump of some of the pictures or short videos that I have taken during the week.
  4. The final (at least initially) topic that I will be blogging about is what I have done that is fun for the week.
I could expand this list of different types of posts, but I think that if I get to those in a week than I will be accomplishing something. What I have lacked in the past is a certain stick-to-it-ness. This means that I start things with good intentions and then somewhere along the line my good intentions kind of fall apart. While I don't have anything that says that will all change this time around, all I can say is that I am going to try.

So why did I choose the categories that I selected? Let's break it down.

Category 1: About Me: I mean, this is the whole point of a blog, right? At least that's why they were initially popular. People used them to document their lives. To tell people about themselves. To disseminate their point of view.

Category 2: Fitness: This is something that I've become lax with int he past 6 months or so. To give you some context, in September I ran a marathon and weighed around 205 pounds. Since then I've done very little and it shows, my weight has bolloxed to over 240 pound and my clothes are all tight. So I am using this blog as way to document my health journey and possibly practice some accountability to myself.

Category 3: Photography: Since I was a youngster I have had a fascination with two artistic forms, writing and photography. The first I am taking care of simply by creating this blog, the second I hope to make a conscious effort to become better at.

Category 4 - Experiences: Or more specifically what I've done for leisure doing the week. This will be the part of the blog that will take some planning, because my job and travel time take up a significant amount of time. That leaves me with my two days off to accomplish everything that needs to get done durning the week, and sometimes "fun" is more stressful than doing nothing. This is also something that I am hoping to change. I need to have more "experiences".

That's where I am at so far. Time will tell if this blog becomes a thing. Right now I am committed to keeping it alive and successful. But today is also day 1.
