My Personal Farmville

For years now I have been resisting the somewhat minuscule urge to play Farmville, Cityville or any of the other litany of ...ville games that have been all the rage on Facebook.

Enter BattleNations. I thought that this was a somewhat innocent game on the iPad. It was free. The description was somewhat innocuous: Take command of the elite Imperial Army as you expand and secure the empire. Gather precious resources and build a thriving nation to power your machine of war. Train your troops and battle the attacking rebel forces for dominance of the land.

I had the day off...

Excuse me for a second while defend against an attack...

So like I was saying: I had the day off, and I was a little bored, so I downloaded the game to my iPad and began to play. It was easy enough, and it chewed up some time until my girlfriend got off of work, so I was happy. Little did I know...

Sorry, I have to go harvest and plant some crops...

Anyway: Little did I know that building an army encampment could be so addicting. I had to periodically build housing for my troops, plant and harvest crops, build resource foundries and of course battle off attackers. Hours, or maybe even minutes later I was hooked. The next thing I knew, it was two days later and I find myself waking up and completing missions, harvesting crops and building more infrastructure.

So if you have an iPhone and you need to waste a little more time, give it a try. And if you do hit me up, my gamertag is kengaylord.
